Bobby the Little Monster

Bobby the Little Monster

Once upon a time, in a cozy place called Monster Village, there lived a sweet monster named Bobby. He was pleasantly plump and covered from head to toe in soft, purple fuzz. Even though his teeth were pointy, his smile was gentle, and he was as well-behaved as could be. He lived a very happy life there with his Mommy and Daddy.

One day, Daddy Monster came home from work with huge news. He announced that the following week, he was being transferred to Human Town for his job, which meant the whole family had to move!

When he heard this, Bobby’s long, fuzzy ears drooped. He stuck out his bottom lip in a small pout and said he didn't want to leave. All his best friends were in Monster Village, and he was terrified of being lonely in a brand-new place.

Daddy gently patted Bobby's fluffy head and said, "When we get to Human Town, you'll get to meet human children. You can make so many new kinds of friends!"

At Daddy's words, Bobby's eyes lit up. His heart filled with excitement about Human Town.

A week later, Bobby’s family packed their bags and boxes of all shapes and sizes and began their journey. The houses in Human Town were so different from the ones in Monster Village! They were made of pretty red bricks and green roof tiles, looking absolutely picture-perfect.

As soon as they set down their luggage, Bobby eagerly ran to the neighborhood park. The park was bustling! There were human children everywhere—some were swinging on the swings, some were digging in the sandbox, and others were happily zooming down the slide.

Bobby walked over, flashing his biggest, friendliest smile, hoping to play in the sandbox with the children.

But to his great surprise, the moment he got close, all the children acted as though they had seen something terrifying. They screamed in fright and scattered in every direction!

One child hid behind a tree and shouted, "My daddy told me all monsters are bad guys!"

Another pointed at Bobby and cried, "He’s so hairy, and his teeth are so pointy! What if he bites us?"

A third child was almost in tears, wailing, "His hands are so huge, he must be super strong! What if he scoops us all up and takes us away?"

Hearing those words made Bobby’s heart ache. He hung his head and walked away from the park, feeling sad and defeated.

Back at home, Bobby sat on the sofa, feeling very gloomy. When Mommy saw him looking so down, she lovingly asked what was wrong. With red, teary eyes, Bobby told her everything that had happened at the park.

Mommy gave Bobby a giant, warm hug and comforted him, saying, "Oh, Bobby. Those human children probably just don't know much about monsters yet. They might think we are the bad guys. But you must always remember this: even if others don't like us at first, you must never, ever hate them. As long as we stay kind, one day they will see that we are good inside."

Bobby nodded and said sweetly, "I understand, Mommy."

From that day on, Bobby didn't dare set foot inside the park. He was too afraid of scaring the human children again. Day after day, he would just sit quietly on a bench right at the edge of the park. He would watch the children playing from afar, feeling both left out and lonely.

One afternoon, the children in the park were playing soccer. Whoosh! The ball rolled right out of the park and stopped near a busy, dangerous street.

Bobby saw it and instantly sprang into action. He dashed over, used his big, fuzzy body to block the ball from rolling into the road, and gently pushed it back toward the grass.

However, the boy who had run over to fetch the ball was too scared. He thought Bobby was trying to steal it! The boy was so frightened he didn't even grab the ball; he just turned and ran off. Bobby sighed, turned around, and walked quietly home.

A few more days passed. Bobby was outside the park watching the kids, just like always. Suddenly, a young girl in pigtails tripped and fell. She scraped her knee, and it started to bleed. It hurt so much that she began to cry. The other children were stunned and didn't know what to do.

Bobby was so worried that he didn't even think twice. He rushed right into the park, carefully helped the girl up, and sat her down on a nearby bench to rest. Then, he opened his backpack and pulled out a tiny first-aid kit. Gently, he cleaned her scrape and put a small bandage on it.

The girl, who had been crying from the pain, saw how gentle Bobby was and began to feel safe.

Once the bandage was on, Bobby remembered how he had scared the other kids. Not wanting to frighten this girl, he turned to leave right away.

Just then, she spoke up. "Excuse me," she asked, "what's your name?"

Bobby stopped in his tracks. He turned his head in surprise and said shyly, "My name is Bobby."

Instead of being scared, the girl gave him a brilliant, sunny smile. "My name is Joy," she said. "Thank you for helping me, Bobby. Do you want to play with me?"

Hearing those magical words, Bobby was so happy he could have jumped over the moon! He nodded his fuzzy head enthusiastically and went straight to the slide with Joy.

While Bobby and Joy were having the best time, a boy named Ash was out on the grass flying a kite. Suddenly, a huge gust of wind blew, tangling the kite high up in the branches of a very tall tree. No matter how hard he pulled, it just wouldn't come down. Ash was so frustrated he was ready to cry.

Bobby saw the whole thing and ran right over. Using his monster strength and agility, he scrambled up the tall trunk in seconds! He easily grabbed the kite and brought it safely back down to Ash.

Ash took his kite and realized that this big, fuzzy purple monster was actually kindhearted and not scary at all. Ash smiled warmly and said, "Bobby, let's all play together!"

That afternoon, Bobby, Joy, and Ash played hide-and-seek, built magnificent sandcastles, and flew the kite high in the sky. They had the most wonderful time.

When evening came, Daddy got home from work. Seeing Bobby happily eating his dinner, Daddy asked, "Bobby, do you want to move back to Monster Village?"

Bobby smiled, shook his head, and said, "I want to stay right here, because I've made some truly wonderful new friends!"

Mommy and Daddy shared a happy smile. Their hearts were so full of joy for their sweet monster.

Right at that moment, there was a knock at the door!

Daddy opened it to find Joy’s and Ash’s parents standing on the porch. In their hands, they held Human Town’s most famous treat—a freshly baked apple pie that smelled delicious! They had come specifically to Bobby’s house to say a huge thank you for helping their children that day.

Bobby’s parents were pleasantly surprised and warmly invited them inside. They brought out Monster Village's special sweet-berry juice to share with their guests. Everyone gathered around the table, laughing and talking, sharing a cozy and heartwarming evening.

From that day forward, Bobby confidently walked into the park to play every single day. Because of his kindness and bravery, more and more children discovered that he was a very good monster, and everyone wanted to play with him. Bobby made dozens of wonderful friends in Human Town.

And so, Bobby, Mommy, and Daddy continued to live happily ever after in their beautiful new home.
