Once upon a time, in a quiet, peaceful little village, there lived two lovely young girls named Olivia and Ari. Olivia had skin as fair as the winter snow, while Ari had beautiful, glowing brown skin.
They were completely inseparable—the very best of friends! They walked to school together and played together every single day. But the two girls shared a little secret: they loved to eat almost everything in the world... except vegetables. In fact, they absolutely hated vegetables!
One day, a mysterious witch arrived in their village. She carried a magical mirror that could answer any question in the whole wide world.
Every day, the witch would ask it, "Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who is the most beautiful of them all?"
And the mirror would always answer, "The most beautiful in the village are Olivia and Ari."
This made the witch green with jealousy! She decided she had to take their beauty away. So, she disguised herself as a sweet, kindly old lady. Carrying a basket overflowing with brightly colored candy, she walked right up to Olivia and Ari with a big, fake smile.
"Children, come try these special candies I made just for you!" the witch cooed in a soft, gentle voice.
Olivia and Ari didn't hesitate to take the yummy treats. But the moment the candy touched their tongues, their cheeks began to tingle and sting! They looked at each other in horror, realizing their faces were twisting and changing into strange shapes.
They ran as fast as they could to the river. When they looked down at their reflections in the water, tears burst from their eyes. Staring back at them weren't their own familiar faces, but the faces of two strange, ugly little girls.
Before long, Olivia and Ari heard a hopeful rumor. Deep in the nearby forest lived a kind wizard who might be able to break this terrible curse.
Holding hands tightly, they gathered their courage and tiptoed into the mysterious, shadowy woods. Finally, they found the wizard's home and told him everything that had happened.
The wizard listened carefully, then gave them a warm smile. "Breaking this spell isn't too hard," he said. "All you have to do is eat your vegetables every day."
Olivia and Ari's eyes grew as wide as saucers. "Vegetables?!" they gasped.
The wizard nodded. He pulled some crisp, fresh greens from a nearby basket. "These vegetables have magical powers that make people beautiful," he explained. "If you make sure to eat some every day, you will soon look exactly like yourselves again."
So, Olivia and Ari took the magical vegetables and hurried back home. They followed the wizard's instructions perfectly, making sure to eat a little bit of veggies with every single meal. Sure enough, day by day, their normal faces began to return.
Finally, one bright morning, Olivia and Ari woke up to find they were just as beautiful as they had ever been!
But what was even more magical was how they felt. The vegetables hadn't just made them pretty again; they had made the girls feel incredibly full of energy and stronger than ever before!
Little by little, Olivia and Ari stopped hating vegetables and actually started to love how they tasted. Even though the wicked curse was completely broken, they still happily crunched on their veggies every single day.
From then on, Olivia and Ari weren't just the most beautiful girls in the village—they were the healthiest kids, too!
