The Taste of Love

The Taste of Love

In a cozy little town lived a bright and cheerful girl named Sunny, who shared a special bond with her dad.

Her dad was a true "super foodie." Every weekend, he would hold Sunny’s hand, and together they would explore every nook and cranny of their town in search of delicious hidden treats. Sometimes it was the wonderful smell of freshly baked bread from a corner bakery; other times, it was a comforting bowl of steaming hot noodle soup from the bustling night market. Her dad would often pat his tummy, smile brightly, and say, "Eating delicious food is just like swallowing a whole tummy full of happiness!"

But one day, the cheerful explorations came to a halt. Her dad became seriously ill and had to stay in the hospital for a long time to get treatment.

Seeing her dad looking so pale and weak in his hospital bed made Sunny’s heart ache. She desperately wanted to do something for him—something that would make him feel just a little bit better. Sunny knew how much her dad loved good food, so she made a brave decision: she was going to learn how to cook and make the most delicious meals in the whole wide world just for him.

The next day, Sunny put on her mom's big apron and bustled around the kitchen. The first meal she ever made for her dad was a fried egg and a bowl of simple vegetable soup. Oh dear! The egg was a little burnt and crispy around the edges, and the vegetables were boiled until they were yellowish and mushy. It didn't look very pretty, and it tasted a little funny, too.

But when Sunny brought the meal to the hospital, her dad didn't mind one bit. In fact, he ate it with absolute delight! He smiled, gently patted Sunny's head, and said, "This is the greatest meal in the world because it's filled to the brim with my Sunny's love!"

From that day on, Sunny poured her heart into cooking for her dad every single day after school. She would arrive at the hospital every evening with a carefully packed meal. Just seeing the happy, satisfied look on her dad’s face as he ate the food she made meant the world to her, making all her hard work feel like no work at all.

A kind nurse at the hospital noticed Sunny carrying the heavy food containers day after day. Feeling sorry for the little girl, the nurse gently said, "Sunny, the hospital provides three meals a day for your dad. You don't have to work so hard cooking all by yourself."

Sunny shook her head and replied, "Thank you, ma'am, but I don't mind the hard work. I want to cook for my dad with my own two hands. It's the one special thing I can do for him!"

As the days turned into weeks, Sunny's cooking skills steadily improved. She learned how to make beautifully fluffy omelets, sweet and creamy pumpkin soup, and the softest, most buttery mashed potatoes.

Sadly, despite all the love poured into her food, her dad's illness grew worse. Eventually, he barely had the strength to hold a spoon.

One quiet afternoon, it seemed her dad knew his time was drawing near. He gently held Sunny's hand and whispered, "Sunny, if there comes a day when I'm no longer here, please don't be too sad. You have to promise me that you will keep doing what you love, and bravely follow your dreams."

That very night, her dad peacefully closed his eyes and left this world. He traveled to a place far away and became the brightest, most beautiful star in the night sky.

Sunny was heartbroken and cried for a long time. But whenever she looked up at the twinkling night sky, she remembered her dad's final words. She wiped her tears away, put her big apron back on, and decided to keep practicing her cooking, all for her dad.

Time flew by, and Sunny grew up. Through her tireless dedication and deep passion for cooking, she became the executive chef at a grand international hotel.

Whenever her guests finished their meals and praised her food for tasting like pure happiness, Sunny would look up at the sky outside her window and offer a brilliant, warm smile. She knew her dad was looking down from the stars, incredibly proud of his little girl.
