Deep in the heart of the forest lived an adorable little fox named Sparky.
One day, his mom came back from the market and whispered mysteriously, "Sparky, guess what I brought home for you?"
Before Sparky could even guess, his mom smiled and pulled out a bright, shiny red ball from behind her back.
"Wow! A red ball!" Sparky jumped up with joy. He hugged the ball tightly and rolled around with it on the soft green grass. He absolutely loved his new toy.
The very next day, Sparky took his precious red ball to a clearing in the forest to play. He kicked it high into the air and chased after it, having the time of his life.
Just then, a little dog named Barkley, who lived nearby, trotted over. Barkley watched the bouncy red ball with wide eyes and asked, "Sparky, your ball is so pretty! Can we play with it together?"
Hearing this, Sparky immediately scooped up the ball, hugged it tightly to his chest, and shook his head. "No way. This is my ball, and I don't want to share."
Barkley felt a little disappointed. He sat down quietly at the edge of the clearing and just watched Sparky play all by himself.
But as time went by, Sparky started to feel a little bit bored. Playing all alone wasn't quite as much fun as he thought it would be.
Another day passed. Sparky was aimlessly rolling his ball back and forth when Barkley came trotting back. This time, Barkley didn't ask to play right away; he just sat down quietly and watched.
After a little while, Barkley asked in a soft voice, "Sparky, do you want to try playing together today?"
Sparky looked into Barkley's hopeful eyes and remembered how lonely he had felt playing all by himself yesterday. He hesitated for a moment, thinking, If I have someone to play with, maybe it will be even more fun!
He took a deep breath, finally nodded, and said, "Okay! Let's play together!"
"Really? Yay!" Barkley jumped up in excitement.
And so, they started to play. Sparky kicked the ball to Barkley, and Barkley bounced it right back to Sparky with his nose. They chased the ball all around, and their happy giggles echoed across the clearing.
Sparky realized something wonderful: when you play with a friend, the fun is doubled, and you can make up all sorts of silly new games!
A few days later, Barkley's mom bought him a cool little blue airplane that lit up. Barkley grabbed his new toy and ran straight to find Sparky. He excitedly said, "Sparky, look! This is the new toy my mom got me! Let's play with it together!"
From that day on, Sparky and Barkley became the very best of friends. Whenever they got a new toy, they would always find each other to share it right away, because they both knew that sharing with a friend is the happiest thing of all.
