Once upon a time, in a forest far, far away, there lived a wicked tiger. Of all the things in the world, his absolute favorite pastime was ruining children’s dreams and stealing their hope.
On a crisp autumn night, a bright harvest moon hung high and round in the sky. A little boy named Caleb sat on a grassy hill with his family. They were gazing up at the moon and eating sweet pastries when his mother asked, "Caleb, what is your biggest dream?"
Caleb pointed up at the twinkling night sky and said excitedly, "I want to be an astronaut! I want to fly into space and stand on those very stars."
But the wicked tiger was hiding in the nearby bushes, eavesdropping. He let out a nasty, low chuckle. With a mighty leap, he bounded high into the night sky, opened his massive jaws, and swallowed every single star in one giant gulp!
When Caleb looked up again, the sky was pitch-black. The stars were gone. His dream felt shattered, and tears rolled down his cheeks.
"Haha! Now your dream will never come true!" the tiger snickered from the shadows.
Elsewhere in the forest lived a little girl named Audrey. She loved to sing more than anything else and dreamed of becoming a world-renowned singer.
One afternoon, while Audrey was practicing her scales in the woods, the tiger suddenly appeared. He crept up to her, pretending to be kind and friendly.
"Audrey, you sing so beautifully!" the tiger lied, offering a warm smile. "I actually have a special gift just for you." He reached into his backpack and pulled out a bottle of sparkling purple liquid.
Audrey looked at it curiously. "What is it?"
"It's a magic potion," he continued. "Take just one little sip, and your voice will become the most beautiful sound in the world. You’ll be the greatest singer in the whole forest."
Thrilled, Audrey took the bottle. She drank it without a second thought, a warm sensation spreading through her chest.
But a few minutes later, Audrey’s voice began to fade. Soon, she couldn't make a single sound. Panicking, she realized she had been tricked by the wicked tiger. She broke down in silent, heartbreaking tears.
Watching her panic, the tiger threw back his head and howled with cruel laughter.
A few days later, a boy named Seth was playing by the ocean with his friends. Looking out at the endless blue water, Seth beamed. "My dream is to be a sea captain! I want to sail my very own ship all around the world!"
Once again, the sneaky tiger was listening. He marched right down to the shore, pulled a frosty Ice Stone from his backpack, and tossed it into the waves. Instantly, the water froze solid. The entire ocean turned into a giant, unmoving block of ice.
Seth’s dream was crushed. Staring at the frozen sea, he knew he couldn't sail a ship anywhere. He fell to his knees and wept in despair.
Watching Seth weep, the tiger smiled a perfectly evil smile.
Word soon spread of the tiger's cruel tricks. Realizing they all shared the same wicked enemy, the children decided they weren't going to give up. They banded together to stop him once and for all.
They planned a magnificent feast and invited all the animals in the forest. On the day of the party, the kids laid out massive tables of delicious food. The mouthwatering smells drifted throughout the woods.
Drawn by the wonderful scent, the ravenous tiger crashed the party. Seeing the tables piled high with treats and barrels of strong, fizzy berry cider, he immediately started stuffing his face. He ate and drank greedily until he had gulped down every last drop of the cider.
It wasn't long before the strong drink made the tiger completely dizzy. He tumbled to the ground, fast asleep, snoring loudly into the dirt.
While the tiger was out cold, Audrey quietly tiptoed over and opened his backpack. She found a bottle of shimmering antidote, drank it down, and gasped—her beautiful voice was back!
Seth searched the bag as well and found a radiant Sun Stone. He ran to the beach, tossed it onto the frozen ice, and watched as the ocean slowly melted back into rolling, splashing blue waves.
As for Caleb, he took out a small pocketknife. Very carefully, he snipped a tiny opening in the snoring tiger's tummy. One by one, the swallowed stars floated out. They drifted right back up into the night sky, lighting up the forest once more.
Working together, the stars used their luminous magic to lift the wicked tiger up, up, up... all the way to the moon! From then on, the tiger was trapped on the moon, spending the rest of his days all alone, never able to ruin anyone's dreams again.
With the tiger gone, the children's hope returned, and they went right back to chasing their dreams.
Twenty years later...
Caleb really did become an astronaut, flying his spaceship to land on planet after planet.
Audrey became a famous, beloved singer, her breathtaking voice echoing all over the world.
And Seth finally got a beautiful ship of his very own. Captain Seth safely sailed across the oceans, exploring every wondrous corner of the globe.
The dreams that the tiger had tried to steal had finally become a reality.
